Webflow user authentication: add member sign-up and login to your site

Last reviewed October 23, 2026

Quick answerWebflow no longer has member logins of its own, so authentication comes from a tool's embeds or app. Add the script, link sign-up, login and profile forms, set where members land after login, then test on the live site.

What replaces User Accounts

Webflow user authentication now comes from a member tool you add to the site, because Webflow User Accounts (also called Memberships) stopped working on January 29, 2026. To add login to a Webflow site, put the tool's script in custom code, link buttons to its sign-up, login and profile forms, and test on the live site.

Webflow's help center says members can no longer log in and content gates were removed. Custom code needs an active Site plan or a paid Workspace plan.

Sign-up, login and profile forms

On Webflow, Outseta works through three embeds, its forms that open as pop-ups or sit on a page: sign up, login and profile. The profile embed lets members manage their profile, change plan, keep payment details and invite team members.

  1. Connect Stripe and add at least one membership plan for your members, which can be a free membership.
  2. Paste Outseta's Quick start head script, the code that makes the embeds work, into Webflow's head code.
  3. Add sign-up, login and profile buttons or links, plus a logout link.
  4. In each button's Link Settings, enter the matching link copied from Outseta.
  5. Publish the site.

Outseta shows or hides those buttons by login state. Its Webflow app is the other route, with a head script too.

Login methods: password, Google, magic link and two-factor

Outseta's authentication page lists email and password, Google and single sign-on. Its help center also documents magic link and two-factor sign-in. A magic link is a single-use login link emailed to the member, valid for 10 minutes. Two-factor sign-in can use email or an authenticator app, and the owner can require it for every member.

NIST SP 800-63B sets a 15-character minimum for passwords used alone and eight characters with a second factor. OWASP's Authentication Cheat Sheet calls multi-factor authentication by far the best defense against most password-related attacks and asks for generic error messages on failed logins. These are questions to put to any tool, not ratings of one. This is not legal or security advice.

Where members land after login

Outseta's sign-up and login settings include a post-login URL, the page members reach after logging in, which its help article calls the most important setting on that page. Set the confirmation email there too: it checks the member's address and asks them to set a password.

A page for each member, such as a personal dashboard, is an account-specific page, a protected page that only members of one account can open. A custom-coded site can keep its own login system and still use Outseta's billing embeds.

Testing member logins before launch

Outseta ships without a testing or staging environment. Test accounts can be marked as demo accounts, which keeps them out of reports, and a staging account can be requested after launch. Publish the Webflow site, then sign up, log in, open the profile and log out on the live pages.

Passwords do not carry over from an old login system, so members who move set new ones; Outseta and Memberstack both say so. A site that needs only one shared password needs no login tool, because Webflow's own password protection does that on a paid Site plan.

Outseta's Webflow app adds sign-up and login forms from inside the Designer, with email and password or Google login on every plan and magic links documented in its help center. The Webflow membership plugin guide compares the options, and Outseta Webflow integration covers the app. The Webflow membership site guide builds the whole site.

Outseta's pricing page text gives its trial as 14 days, while the structured data (code for search engines that visitors do not see) behind that page says 7 days and a conversion to a paid plan unless you cancel.
